Chapter 01

Dish packs, cell dividers and paper that is not newsprint
Plates go in on their edge, never flat, inside a sturdy dish pack. Glasses and cups get cell dividers so no rim ever touches another rim. Every piece is wrapped in clean packing paper rather than newsprint, because newsprint leaves ink on white china and on anything with a pale finish, and that ink does not always wash off.
Any leftover space is filled with crumpled paper until the box does not rattle when you shake it. Then the seams are taped in an H pattern, down the middle and along both edges of the flap, so the bottom of a heavy box does not give way when someone lifts it from underneath on the way out to the truck.
Chapter 03
FRAGILE on the side, the room beside it
Every packed box gets two things written on it: the word FRAGILE where it applies, and the room it belongs in. That keeps the unloading fast, and it tells you at a glance which carton can wait in a hallway and which one needs to go straight to the kitchen counter.
Unpack the kitchen first. It is the room you need on the first evening, and since the crew handles packing to unpacking, they can unwrap it with you.
